Jacques Gauthier

Inspiring people to stretch around the world!

Jacques GauthierJacques Gauthier healed himself of debilitating vasculitis, arthritis and osteoporosis through stretching. Thankful for the amazing recovery stretching brought him, he began teaching stretching to friends who were astounded by his recovery. His wife, Dorothée Lavoie, also learned to stretch with the result of completely eliminating the back pain that had plagued her for years.

Jacques and Dorothée were inspired to study stretching further in order to put together the most effective program possible. They read books, worked with chiropractors and other health professionals to develop their stretching routine and approach. By now, they have both taught stretching to thousands of people, both in person and through their stretching video.

Originally from Canada, Jacques now teaches stretching internationally — in the US and Europe as well as Canada. Now approaching 70, Jacques shows no signs of slowing down.

Greetings and thank you for your good work. My 22 year old son has Cerebral Palsy. He is very high functioning, graduated college, drives a car, swims, had the same summer job for 7 years. His condition predominantly affects his right side. The intrauterine damage causes his brain to send incorrect messages to his muscles so they are spastic and high tone. He is a fairly happy person with a healthy social life but he more or less chooses to ignore his CP and therefore does nothing about improving his abilities for the mundane tasks in life like his gait.
My challenge is how do I convince my son that stretching would be one of the best things he could do for himself? He doesn’t want to listen to mom at this age. Plus, his life is pretty good. In his mind, why should he think about improvement? His main focus is finding a job, not stretching his really tight hamstrings! Any advice or suggestions? This is really a personality/attitude question but it comes back to the huge benefits he would get from just stretching! Thank you for your time and assistance. Elena
