It’s always good to start with a course where you can get some hands on practice and experience, and learn with someone who is skilled in energy healing. I always recommend the Healing Touch program (healingtouch.net) or Therapeutic Touch. They are probably both available somewhere near you. We also have a CD, Everyday Energy Healing, that is a great introduction.

I have always been interested in healing. I was fascinated by the book Gift of Healing by Olga and Ambrose Worrall. For them, it wasn’t a business but a gift generously shared. I can be a good healer but I don’t know where to start. I’m interested in medical intuitive and energy healing.

renee, most energy healers have private practices. To find a job as an energy healer would be very rare. It’s possible a very progressive hospital or hospice or the like would employ someone part-time, you’d have to ask around. You might be able to join with other healers in a a group practice, at a local holistic or massage center, but you would have your own practice.

Jennifer, do a search on insurance for Reiki practitioners. I used to be insured with IMA Group, but there are others, I think. I can’t really recommend anything though as I haven’t looked into it for a while.

Thank you for the information here. Do you know of any insurance companies that will provide insurance for hands-on (noninvasive) healing? I am in California, but I know practitioners across the U.S. looking for insurance.

Brenda, the effects of smoking and drinking aren’t any different for an healer than they are for anyone else. They can certainly have negative effects on your health and that could interfere with anything a person does.
