Healing Touch
On the Healing Touch program founded by nurse-healer, Janet Mentgen, RN
What is Healing Touch?
Touch in and of itself is healing. The phrase “healing touch” is commonly used. There is, however, a very specific program of energy healing named Healing Touch. Healing Touch is an energy-based therapy. By the gentle placing of hands on or near the body, the flow of energy can be re-directed, promoting a feeling of deep relaxation. Its goal is to restore the body’s natural flow of energy, thus facilitating self-healing.
Healing Touch is complementary to other health care modalities. Developed within the nursing profession, this program lends itself to integration with conventional medical settings.
Background and Description
The Healing Touch program grew out of the work and teaching of nurse-healer, Janet Mentgen, who taught the first official Healing Touch course in 1989. The program she developed is partly based on her interpretation of the healing philosophies and methods of well-known healers, such as Alice Bailey, Dr. Brugh Joy, Barbara Brennan, and Rosalyn Bruyere. It also includes techniques of lesser known healers, as well as insights and techniques discovered by Mentgen and her nursing colleagues.
Healing Touch is taught in five levels, and for those who wish to complete the program, can lead to becoming a Healing Touch Practitioner. In addition, those who wish to demonstrate their competence in the program can complete special requirements and get certified through Healing Touch International. The program is taught globally with a standardized curriculum, and certification is a rigorous process. Those who wish to become instructors in Healing Touch can complete a sixth level after becoming certified.
